Exterior remodeling in Peoria's old townsite

Peoria's first settlers arrived in 1886, many of the early families came from Peoria, Illinois, and the town incorporated in 1954. In the Old Peoria Townsite, the oldest remaining house dates to 1905. The Deatsch House on W. Madison Street, built in 1920, has river rock posts and exposed roof rafters.

Open rafters and old porch wood take more upkeep than anything else on a house like that. We talk through both ways to handle them: close them in with soffit and fascia, or keep them open and paint them. Tell us at the estimate which look you want to keep.

Newer Peoria neighborhoods

Most of Peoria's growth came after 1970, and on those houses the wear shows on painted fascia, stucco and backyard wood. A wood patio cover that needed paint every few summers can give way to an aluminum patio cover or alumi-lattice, neither of which rots.

If your street has an HOA, look up its rules on colors and backyard structures before you pick a design, and bring any approved color list to the estimate. Our gallery shows finished covers and trim to compare.

Sun on the south and west sides

Peoria stretches north all the way to Lake Pleasant, which the city annexed in 1996. Wherever the house sits, paint on fascia and patio beams that face south or west wears out first. Aluminum trim and aluminum covers don't need that repainting, and on a west-facing patio a solid cover blocks the most afternoon sun.
