Anthem's associations and design review
Three homeowners' associations cover Anthem's neighborhoods: Parkside, Country Club and The Village. In Parkside, the Architectural Review Committee approves exterior changes such as additions and paint colors, and every new change to the home needs an application. Repainting in the original color doesn't. By that rule, a patio cover, new siding or a new trim color each needs one. Staff pre-review each application and may ask for photos or samples.
Country Club, the gated part of Anthem, enforces its own Design Guidelines and asks owners to check painting and upgrade plans against them before starting. Whichever association you're in, get approval before the work begins. Tell us what the form calls for, and we'll supply the colors, materials and measurements.
Exterior remodeling for Anthem homes built since 1999
Anthem sits at the base of Daisy Mountain and Gavilan Peak, a little cooler and wetter than Phoenix to the south. The houses aren't old, but the first ones have been taking the sun since 1999. Exterior painting brings back faded stucco, and soffit and fascia work wraps painted fascia in aluminum so it won't need paint next time. If a wood accent or gable needs constant touch-ups, ask about vinyl siding.
For the backyard, find out which colors your association allows, then pick an aluminum patio cover, solid or lattice, to match. The gallery shows covers from earlier jobs.

Anthem questions
Does a patio cover in Anthem need association approval?
In Parkside, yes: every new change to the house's exterior needs an application. In Country Club, check the Design Guidelines first, and in The Village, ask your association.
Do I need approval to repaint my Anthem house the same color?
Not in Parkside, where repainting in the original color needs no application. A new color does, and Parkside's approved color lists are in the APCA Document Center.
