Exterior remodeling after 20 or 30 Gilbert summers

Gilbert incorporated in 1920 as a farm town on the rail line between Phoenix and Florence, and for years it was known for shipping hay. It had fewer than 6,000 people in 1980. Today it is the most populous incorporated town in the country, and many houses from its fastest years are now two or three decades old.

That is often long enough for painted wood fascia to start splitting and for the trim to need paint before the stucco does. Aluminum over the fascia and vinyl across the open eaves mean that wood never needs another coat. Soffit and fascia has the details, and roofing covers bird block for tile roofs. When the walls need it too, our painting crews can do the stucco after the trim is covered.

Check with your HOA first

If your subdivision has an HOA, its rules may cover patio cover styles and the colors allowed on trim and stucco. Have the association's color list handy when we visit, and we'll match the trim to it.

Shade for hot, dusty summers

The monsoon season, June 15 through September 30, brings strong wind and dust storms to Gilbert along with the rest of the Valley. Alumi-lattice filters the sun, and a solid aluminum patio cover blocks it; neither has wood to rot or repaint, and either keeps the afternoon sun off the back wall. Gilbert questions

Our HOA repaints on a schedule. Should we cover the fascia first?

If the fascia and soffit are covered before the next repaint, the painters only have the stucco left. Check that your HOA allows the trim color you want.

Can you add a patio cover where there isn't one?

Yes. We build aluminum covers over bare patios as well as in place of old wood ones. Check your HOA's rules on size and placement first.
